The issues around publishing, peer-review and careers are complex. We do believe, however, it should be much easier and more rewarding for scientists to share and communicate their work. This is our aspiration with Iris.

The Library on your Profile is visible only to you. You can choose to share your Library resources with anyone, with only your labmates or only certain people.
Chat with several people at once through a Group Chat within “Messaging”. For bigger groups or more complex projects, upgrade to Premium and create a Community!
Use Communities to exchange with others on the same project, topic, event. Share papers, ideas, protocols, code... The sky is the limit! Communities can be public or invitation-only.

To message an Iris member, you need to follow that member, and that member needs to follow you. This means you two are networked.
An alternative path to networking: all paid memberships on Iris allow you to write an initial message to a member outside your network. If the member messages you back, you two are networked.
